Enemies of the Aesir​

Jotuns (Jotnar), also known as Frost Giants, live in their own realm, Jotunheim. 

 

Although giants are portrayed throughout Norse myth as the eternal enemies of Odin, Thor, and the other gods, many myths also depict the giants as lovers, wives, parents, or companions. For example, both Thor and Odin have giantess mothers. Frey has a giantess wife. Loki, himself a Jotun, lives with the Aesir in Asgard...before he is eventually imprisoned.
