Frigg

Queen of the Gods

Frigg is sometimes described as a goddess of prophecy, but most often, she appears primarily as a wife and mother. Her most famous myth involves her attempts to save her beautiful son, Baldur, from his prophesied death. She crosses the world, commanding each thing, living and not, to promise not to harm Baldur. Only mistletoe remains unasked. When Loki learns of the omission, he crafts an arrow from the plant and hands it to Baldur's blind brother, Hod. Unwittingly, Hod casts the arrow at Baldur, killing him. Baldur's death, Frigg's grief, and Loki's punishment will set the Ragnarok in motion.
